When doing Keyword Research there are a some things you should definitely look for. This is from my personal experience using the Google Adwords Keyword Research tool.
Global Searches per Month This should be no more than 6000 per month. You should try to stay with a KW that gets around 100-150 searches per day. This number means two important things;
1. Your keyword is indeed a niche focus type of search term. Keywords that recieve huge amounts of searches are not all that focused or at least not as focused and targeted as you need them to be.
2. The competition for this search number range is not as likely to have a large amount of competition.
Number of entries In Google under that search term (also known as s.e.r.p.s-search engine result pages) Go to google and type in the KW you are interested in using. But, and this very important, type it in using “Quotation Marks”. Such as “Keyword Research”. This will immediately eliminate all the pages that simply use these words, not necessarily together in the exact phrase. This will dramatically reduce the number of serps that google finds and give you a much more accurate idea of what your competition is for the exact keyword you are interested in. Ideally, you should try to use KW’s that return results between 20,000 & 50,000. This is just a general rule of thumb and there are no hard, fast, black and white rules in this game. This is a trick that many marketers, new and experienced do not know about.

Once you have identified a good “Niche Market” you should ask the following questions to determine the best types of products to promote to your chosen market.
1. What kind of products is the market buying now?
2. What kind of products do the other guys spend money to advertise?
3. What kind of products have
been selling for a long time?
*NOTE: You only want to look at products that are proven to be good sellers. There is no need to reinvent the wheel if much of the work has been done.

If you can answer “YES” to these three questions about a niche market you are considering you should further pursue this market. You will need to do some work to answer these in the way of investigating and research.
1. Are they buying Stuff?
2. Are there a lot of people spending money to reach people in this market?
3. Has this been going on for a while?

You see, the USA is rather quickly loosing it’s middle class. This means that the average Joe greenbacks are now being relocated and a majority are falling upwards to the above average people of wealth. Please do not get the impression that that it is my belief that all wealth and spending power rest with the affluent, it’s just the angle I am exploring at the moment. This group of affluent people want and need “stuff” and the best part is they have the financial means to get it. Figure out what this stuff is, position yourself between the people and the stuff, provide the stuff-products, information and services and you will make money.

Yes you heard me correctly. I am not one to swear or be the least bit cynical and this statement is far from being either. You see, everywhere you turn you hear about how lousy the economy is. Well I am here to tell you the money is still out there. It hasn’t mysteriously dissapeared. But it require a different approach to find it and get your share of it. More to come soon….
